Why Choose Connecticut Children’s?

Leaders in Orthopedics

We’re pediatric authorities in musculoskeletal injuries, scoliosis, clubfoot, hip disorders and more – and include one of New York magazine’s “Top 100 Minimally Invasive Surgeons in the Tri-State Area.”

Sports Medicine Specialists

Our Elite Sports Medicine team offers specialized care for athletic injuries in children, adolescents and young adults, including physeal-sparing surgical techniques that avoid injury to growth plates.

Convenience and Video Visits

With numerous locations throughout the state – including two in Fairfield County – it’s a quick trip to our specialists. Thanks to Video Visits, patients may not even have to leave home.

Tailored to Children and Young Adults

As the only pediatric health system in the state dedicated exclusively to the care of children, we uniquely care for growing bodies – from common injuries to rare conditions.

Musculoskeletal Care for Growing Bodies

We know how to diagnose and care for growing bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments. Patients have access to our EOS Imaging System, an ultra-low-dose, 3-D imaging system that uses significantly less radiation than conventional machines while producing high quality, detailed images. We’re the only orthopedic specialists in Connecticut certified in the Ponseti method, a manipulative technique that corrects congenital clubfoot without invasive surgery. We also do in-office ultrasounds to screen infants for hip dysplasia.

We treat such conditions as:

  • bone fractures
  • Sprains, strains and tears
  • Ligament and tendon disorders
  • Scoliosis and conditions of the spine
  • Clubfoot and other conditions affecting feet
  • Developmental hip dysplasia/dislocation, transient synovitis and other hip disorders
  • Limb deformities including knock knee, bow legs and limb length discrepancy
  • Bone infections (osteomyelitis)
  • Nerve injury or pain
  • Arthritic conditions
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Tumors

Whether your child is dealing with a common injury or a complex problem, we have the expertise they need.

Minimally Invasive Treatments for Elite Athletes

Athletes who are still growing need specialized care. We’re experts in treatments that don’t disrupt normal growth, including minimally invasive arthroscopic procedures and physeal-sparing surgical techniques, which avoid injury to growth plates.

This specialized care includes:

  • ACL reconstruction and meniscus tears
  • Shoulder arthroscopy
  • Hip arthroscopy
  • Broken bones and growth plate injuries
  • Dislocations of the shoulder, elbow and kneecap
  • Injuries to joint cartilage, including osteochondritis dessicans
  • Sprains, strains and other ligament and tendon injuries, including Achilles tendon injuries
  • Overuse injuries (tendonitis), including little league shoulder and little league elbow

Our sports medicine specialists go beyond injury prevention and repair – using the latest therapies and research to enhance athletic performance and promote long-term health.

We specialize in:

  • ACL injury and recovery
  • Female Athlete Triad (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sports syndrome)
  • Bone health and low bone density
  • Sports endocrine issues
  • Concussion prevention and recovery
  • Sports nutrition
  • Sports psychology in performance, injury and recovery
